Antonio Gil Ybarbo died in 1809 at his ranch, La Lucana, on the Attoyac Bayou, and is presumed buried in the Old Spanish Cemetery, according to Wikipedia. His is the one burial the marker names. When the county courthouse was built on the cemetery ground in 1912, many graves were moved to Oak Grove Cemetery, and Oak Grove's marker says the earliest of them is marked 'Father Mendoza,' 1718. A statue of Gil Ybarbo has stood in the Nacogdoches plaza since 1997.
