Lincoln County · Wyoming
Erected by First National Bank, Kemmerer
The granite calls this the old Green River crossing and rendezvous, and only the crossing holds. None of the fur trade's summer rendezvous met here. Wyoming's were on Henrys Fork near McKinnon in 1825, on Hams Fork near Granger in 1834, on the Wind River near Riverton in 1838, and six times on Horse Creek near Daniel, some fifty miles north. The crossing belonged to the Sublette Cutoff, not the main Oregon Trail, and the bank that paid for the stone was in Kemmerer, the county seat. A National Register plate on the cliff marks the site's 1969 listing.
