LaGrange High School
Lake Charles, Calcasieu County · Louisiana
The land came in two gifts. Mesard LaGrange gave an acre for a one-room school in 1903 and, a decade or so later, nine more acres. The school itself did not vanish with the old Ryan Street campus. Wikipedia dates LaGrange High to 1903 and places it today at 3420 Louisiana Avenue, home of the Gators in purple and white. Its alumni include Randy Roach, mayor of Lake Charles from 2000 to 2017, and the NFL players Don Breaux and Marcus Anderson. The football program was recognized by the state athletic association in 1938.
