Jourdan Campbell
Jourdanton, Atascosa County · Texas
Erected 2011
The Tobey Ranch that Jourdan Campbell and T. H. Zanderson bought did not stop at Jourdanton. Charlotte was carved from the same ranch, and J. F. Edwards laid out its townsite in 1910 as a wagon wheel, with streets as spokes. Dr. Charles Simmons, who helped develop the county, named Charlotte, Imogene and Christine for his daughters. Campbell's father, John Campbell, had already founded Campbellton. Jourdan Campbell sat on the first board of the Artesian Belt Railroad, which ran through Poteet and Jourdanton to Christine.
