Iglesia de San Ysidro
Corrales, Sandoval County · New Mexico
The church nearly passed into private hands. The diocese deconsecrated it in the early 1960s and built a new church on Corrales Road; in 1973 a couple buying the neighboring historic house asked to buy the old church too. The diocese would not sell to an individual, so residents led by the historian Alan Minge formed the Corrales Historical Society in 1974 and bought it for $9,500 on a loan the village later paid off. A plaque beside the door records that 21 coffins lie under its floor, ten of them recovered from the flood of 1868.
