Frontier Times Museum
Bandera, Bandera County · Texas
Erected 1965
Hunter learned the trade on the move. Born at Loyal Valley in 1880, he left school in 1891 to work in his father's printshop at the Menardville Record, then on the Mason Herald his father founded in 1892. By 1897 he was on the Llano Times, and that December he started his own Comfort Times, which lasted a few months. In 1899 he joined Two Republics, a bilingual daily in Mexico City; within a year the Mexican government suppressed it and he fled north. He printed papers in Arizona, New Mexico and Texas before settling in Bandera in 1921.
