DelSue Motor Inn
Williams, Coconino County County · Arizona
When the automobile remade travel, the motor court replaced the railroad hotel, and Williams filled up with them. The DelSue Motor Inn is one of the survivors, a modest mid-century auto court of the kind that lined Route 66 by the hundreds, built for families who wanted to park at the door and sleep cheap on the drive west. Most were bulldozed once the interstate stole their traffic. This one earned a place on the National Register instead, a small monument to the golden age of the road trip.
