Historical Marker
Continental Divide
Cuba, Sandoval County · New Mexico
The divide the panel marks is also a footpath. The Continental Divide National Scenic Trail comes through the Cuba country, and the trail coalition maps the village as a gateway, with routes north into the Sierra Nacimiento toward San Gregorio Lake. The divide itself is unemphatic here, a grassy rise beside the highway rather than a crest. Cuba's own boosters say the village sits atop it at 6,900 feet; this marker, about ten miles northwest of town on US-550, puts the line at 7,379.
