Boone-Murphy House
Pine Bluff, Jefferson County · Arkansas
Erected 2012
Thomas A. Boone built this frame house in 1860, and it changed hands after the war. Boone mortgaged it, and when the loan went unpaid it was sold to John P. Murphy, whose family lived there until his death in 1892. His widow later married Charles F. Moore. Around 1880 decorative bargeboard and iron roof cresting were added. In 1977 the house was moved from 702 West Second Avenue to West Fourth Avenue and restored to its 1920s look, and the Heckatoo Heritage Foundation now manages it. Union Colonel Powell Clayton lived here as commander.
