Standin' on the Corner Park
Winslow, Navajo County County · Arizona
One line of a song turned a railroad town into a pilgrimage. When the Eagles recorded 'Take It Easy' in 1972, the verse about standing on a corner in Winslow, Arizona, watching a girl in a flatbed Ford slow down, put the place on the map for good. Winslow leaned all the way in, dedicating this corner park in 1999 with a bronze figure, a painted mural, and the requisite flatbed Ford parked at the curb. It is unabashed, a little kitschy, and thoroughly beloved by the travelers who keep pulling over to pose.
