Historical Marker
Judge Jacob Trieber
Helena-West Helena, Phillips County · Arkansas
Erected 2016
The marker stands at a federal building that carried Trieber's name only from 2016. The Encyclopedia of Arkansas says the three-story, International-style building at 617 Walnut Street opened in 1961 to replace a courthouse of about 1890 at Porter and Cherry streets. Edward Brueggeman of Little Rock and Elmer A. Stuck and Associates of Jonesboro designed it, and O'Brien and Padgett of Memphis built it on a winning bid of $713,445. Congressman E. C. Gathings led the dedication on July 27, 1961. The building was officially designated the Jacob Trieber Federal Building on May 20, 2016.
